Former Subordinates To Close People Of Khofifah 'Falling Down' In Simultaneous Regional Elections In East Java

SURABAYA - Two former subordinates of the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa 'collapsed' in the 2020 Regional Election.

The former ASN of the East Java Provincial Government who lost based on a quick count were Fattah Jasin Cabup Sumenep and Setiajit Cabup Tuban. Their defeat which is illustrated by the quick count, the proof of support and blessing from Khofifah, does not seem to have an effect

For example, former Bakorwil Pamekasan Madura Fattah Jasin, who ran in pairs with Ali Fikri based on the results of a quick count, while only getting 46.79 percent of the votes. While his opponent Ahmad Fauzi-dewi Khalifah got 53.21 percent.

Likewise, the pair of former Head of the East Java Provincial EMR Service, Setiajit-Armaya who advanced in the Tuban Pilkada was ranked third (lowest) with 15.86 percent acquisition. The Khozanah-Anwar pair came in second with 34 percent acquisition, and the first place went to Lindra-Riyadi with 59.88 percent.

Not only that, people close to Khofifah outside the East Java Provincial ASN who also ran in the 2020 Pilkada also lost. Among them, Kartika Hidayati (Cabup Lamongan) and Dwi Astutik (Cawabup Sidoarjo), both of whom are figures in Muslimat NU.

A political observer from Airlangga University (Unair) Surabaya, Suko Widodo, said that the former ASN who had descended from the advanced Pilkada caste in his homeland had a slim chance of winning. The factor is because they do not have an intensive relationship with the voting community.

"Even though he is a native of the region, his roots have been uprooted from his homeland. ASN is in accordance with its main function, functional so that it has no direct relationship with the community," said Suko.

Another consideration, said Suko, is that ASNs who are progressing in the Pilkada tend to only continue their period, ahead of retirement, aka old age. "If ASN has the intention of advancing the regional head, it is better to enter a political party or retire early and then join the party, that is a bigger chance," he said.

A political observer from Trunojoyo Madura University (UTM), Surokim Abdussalam, added that in the direct elections this time there were interesting trends and phenomena. Where the majority of elected leaders are candidates who are of productive age. "For example in Surabaya, Tuban, Sidoarjo, Gresik," he said.

According to the Dean of FISIB UTM, this phenomenon should be observed and paid attention to by stakeholders related to changes in voting behavior for citizens today. Including the candidates who will fight.

"The politics of this youth trend is increasingly proving that current political patterns are increasingly non-linear and tend to be complex without patterns. Candidates from the baby boomers generation (1944-1964) are increasingly finding it difficult to get a positive response. This is proof that the baby boomers generation has an opportunity. the current pilkada is getting heavier, "said Surokim.
