7 DAYS Lost, SAR Team Stop Drowning Fishermen In North Lombok Waters

The joint SAR team has officially stopped the search for a missing fisherman who drowned in the waters of North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) after entering the seventh day of the search.

"There were no signs of the victim's whereabouts, so we will stop the search on the seventh day," said Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Nanang Sigit PH, in Mataram, NTB, Thursday, November 3.

From the reports received, Nanang conveyed that the fisherman was named Fery Setiawan (28), a resident of Lokok Kampang Hamlet, Sukadana Village, Bayan District, North Lombok.

Nanang went to sea since Thursday 27 October, around 04.00 WITA, but until the evening he did not return to his house as usual at sunset.

Nanang added that the victim and two of his colleagues went fishing using their respective boats around the FAD in the sea waters of North Lombok Regency.

Because it was time to go home, the victim was invited home by two of his colleagues at around 16.00 WITA. In addition, the sea waves have started to grow and the wind is strong.

However, the victim refused and preferred to continue his activities. Finally, the victim was left with the condition of the canoe and the engine was still normal.

"Because they did not return, local fishermen conducted a search to the location where the victim was last seen. However, they did not reach the location due to bad weather, then reported it to the authorities to help with the search," he said.

The joint SAR team, continued Nanang, received a report from the Head of Krepuk Hamlet, Sukadana Village that the victim's boat was found by local fishermen around Gili Lawang waters, Takalok Village, Sambelia District, East Lombok.

After previously deploying the Rescue Team for the Bangsal SAR Alert Post, the Mataram SAR Office again dispatched the Kayangan SAR Post Rescue team to check the accuracy of the information.

"After checking, it was true that the victim's boat was found about 22 nautical miles from the shoreline," he said.

Furthermore, the Kayangan SAR Post together with related elements conducted a search around the discovery of the victim's boat using an inflatable boat rigit. However, the victim was not found for up to seven days of searching.

The joint SAR teams involved include the Rescue Team of the Bangsal SAR Alert Post, the Kayangan SAR Post, the TNI, the Marine and Fisheries Service, the North Lombok Fire Department, Barasiaga, Pokmaswas, Share Love, local residents and fishermen, as well as potential SAR in North Lombok Regency, and East Lombok, said Nanang Sigit PH.
