KPK Warning To Acting Governor: Many Corruption Modes Involving Families

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded the acting governor to stay away from the practice of racism. They are asked to stay away from corrupt practices that involve their closest people, such as spouses and children.

This warning was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango when opening the Anti-Corruption Strengthening for State Organizers with Integrity (PAKU). The event was held by inviting the acting governor and his partner.

"Anti-corruption education should indeed be included in the family environment. Many modes of corruption involve families," said Nawawi in a written statement, Thursday, November 3.

He hopes that after following this PAKU Integrity, officials can bring anti-corruption values ​​and run in the family. "To be truly engraved in yourself is not just fear," he said.

Nawawi also advised the pair of acting governors not to hesitate to remind them. Don't let them even support corruption.

"Remind each other. Couples must be able to become strongholds for other couples. Build integrity in such a way starting from the family environment," said Nawawi.

The Acting Governors who attended came from the provinces of Aceh, Banten, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, the Bangka Belitung Islands, and West Papua. Actually, the KPK also invited the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, but he did not attend.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati said Heru was not present because he was on duty with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"The information we received was that the Acting Governor of DKI was not present today because there was a meeting with the President at the same time as the executive briefing," said Ipi to reporters, Wednesday, November 2.

For information, this briefing was carried out by the KPK in 2021 with a total of nine Executive Briefings. In addition, there are also four series of Integrity Development Training with participants from ten ministries/agencies, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Law and Human Rights.

Next, this activity was also attended by the Ministry of Finance, Trade, Agriculture, Social Affairs, Health, the General Elections Commission, and the General Elections Supervisory Agency.
