Acting General Chairman Of PPP: I Will Resign As Member Of Wantimpres Before December 2022

JAKARTA - Acting General Chairman (Ketum) of PPP Muhammad Mardiono said he would resign from his position as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) before December 2022.

"Before December, I will resign," said Mardiono, as quoted on Tuesday, November 1.

Even so, Mardiono emphasized that the position he had held since 2019 did not interfere with his work as Acting Head of PPP. Because, he said, Acting General Chairman has the same authority as the definitive chairman.

"So, the Acting Party's Articles of Association (AD/ART) PPP have the same authority," he said.

He also gave an example when Suharso Monoarfa became Acting Chairman of the PPP replacing Romahurmuziy. According to him, Mardiono had the same duties and authorities before becoming the definitive chairman of the PPP.

"So Mr. Suharso Monoarfa was before the 2019 election, because Mr. Romy was still unable to do so, then Mr. Suharso's representative until the 2019 election. Then the congress was held, namely in December. So they have the same authority," concluded Mardiono.

It is known, in mid-October, Mardiono had time to meet Jokowi at the State Palace. After the meeting, Mardiono admitted that he had not received Jokowi's blessing to resign from the Wantimpres member.

Mardiono said he was still being asked by Jokowi to clear up unfinished work. One of them is a study of villagers who experience high economic costs.
