Metro Jaya Police Pull The Ticket Book From Traffic Police Units

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police has withdrawn all ticket books from the ranks of the traffic police as one of the steps towards eliminating manual ticketing.

"We are in Jakarta as a whole. We have withdrawn the ticket from all members," said Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Latif Usman, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 25.

Latif revealed that the Ditlantas Metro Jaya Police will begin to fully use the electronic ticketing system or Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE).

Ditlantas Metro Jaya Police on Monday (24/10) yesterday launched ten patrol vehicles equipped with mobile ETLE cameras.

A total of 10 patrol vehicles will equip 57 static ETLE camera points spread across the Jakarta area.

Latif said that in the future the Ditlantas Metro Jaya Police will increase the number of static ETLE cameras at several points in Jakarta's buffer zone, namely Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Police to optimize static and portable electronic tickets and reduce manual tickets to avoid illegal levies (extortion).

The instruction is contained in the Chief of the National Police's Telegram Letter Number: ST/2264/X/HUM.3.4.5./2022 dated October 18, 2022, which was signed by the Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Pol. Shantyabudi's words.

"Traffic violation enforcement does not use manual ticketing. But only by using ETLE, both static and portable," said the five points of the telegram.

In the telegram, the National Police Chief also instructed Korlantas ranks to give warnings to traffic violators.
