The Nusantara VI Indigenous Community Congress Is Officially Opened In Jayapura, Regent Calls 2,500 Members Of Will Come

PAPUA - The 2022 Nusantara Indigenous Society Congress (KMAN) will officially open today, Monday, October 24. The opening was accompanied by a colossal dance from 250 students in Papua Province.

Jayapura Regent Mathius Awoitauw said the opening of KMAN VI coincided with the holding of the Lake Sentani Festival. The festival coincides with the anniversary of indigenous peoples in Jayapura.

"KMAN VI in Jayapura Regency involves all indigenous peoples of the archipelago, from Sabang to Merauke," he said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 24.

The opening of KMAN VI which took place at the Barnabas Youwe Sentani Stadium, Jayapura Regency, was lively.

Hundreds of children who perform colossal dances show the daily activities of the Papuan people. There are students who, such as sago braking, looking for fish, gardening, rowing boats, and knitking nokens.

According to Mathius, around 2,500 members of indigenous peoples from various regions in Indonesia attended KMAN VI. He also invited the public to maintain security and comfort during KMAN VI which was held from October 24-30, 2022.

"We invite the whole community to maintain security during KMAN," said Mathius.
