North Sumatra Regional Police Chief Affirms The Neutrality Of Apparatus In Pilkada, Police Are Prohibited From Photographing With Regional Head Candidates

MEDAN - North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Martuani Sormin emphasized that the North Sumatra Regional Police were neutral in securing the 2020 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) simultaneously.

"I have also ordered members of the National Police not to take pictures of any regional head candidates," said Martuani, after leading the shifting troops (Serpas) in order to secure the 2020 regional elections at the North Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters, quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 6.

Martuani said this showed that the North Sumatra Regional Police were neutral for the simultaneous Pilkada held on December 9.

"This means ensuring neutrality for the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada," he said.

Martuani said there were strict sanctions against members of the North Sumatra Regional Police who were found not to be neutral in the Pilkada.

According to him, whoever is elected to be the regional head will be the community's best choice

"Whoever is elected as regional head is the best male and female in North Sumatra (North Sumatra)," said Martuano.

North Sumatra Regional Police Deploy 2/3 of Total Personnel to Secure Pilkada

The North Sumatra Regional Police deployed 2/3 of the total number of personnel to secure the 2020 simultaneous regional elections.

"Two thirds of our strength is mobilized to secure the Pilkada," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Tatan Dirsan Atmaja, Tuesday, December 1.

In securing the pilkada, the National Police will be assisted by the ranks of the TNI and related stakeholders. With this security, it is hoped that the democratic party which will take place on December 9, 2020 in 23 districts / cities in North Sumatra can take place peacefully.

"In this democratic party it is hoped that it can run smoothly. Let us party without being hostile to each other," he said.

Previously, the North Sumatra Regional Police noted that 1,352 polling stations (TPS) were categorized as prone to chaos in the 2020 Pilkada. Of the 1,352 polling stations that were prone, 179 of them were in the very vulnerable category.
