Jokowi Already Knows KIB's Preferred Candidate Figure, Will He Support?

JAKARTA - The United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), which consists of the Golkar Party, PAN, and PPP, has not announced the name of the presidential candidate they will carry in the 2024 General Election. However, the name is already known to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

This was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP, Airlangga Hartarto. "The president already knows. He already knows the names", he said after the Green Tour to Pantai Indah Kapuk in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 22.

According to Airlangga, for the determination of the presidential and vice presidential candidates, the parties from the KIB (Golkar Party, PAN, and PPP) will always consult with Jokowi. Communication between the Golkar Party, KIB, and Jokowi continues to be carried out so that there are similarities.

"This is a political communication, not an ordinary communication, many things are communicated", he said.

Airlangga said the steps of the Golkar Party and KIB in determining the vision and mission as well as presidential candidates will always be in line with Jokowi.

"Yes, of course, it is in harmony, until now it is in harmony. The name is in harmony like gamelan, it must be in harmony, you can't run gamelan to other places", he said.

Previously, Airlangga said, KIB had a "premium ticket" for a presidential and vice presidential candidacy for the 2024 election because the votes exceeded the minimum "presidential threshold".

"The Golkar Party together with PAN and PPP already have the President's ticket to nominate the president and vice president in 2024. The ticket if you watch football, the President's premium ticket, is above the minimum limit", he said in front of Jokowi, general chairmen of political parties to ministers of KIB at the peak of the Golkar Party's 58th Anniversary in Hall C, PRJ Arena, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 21, 2022.

He also said that KIB is still opening itself up for other political parties to join so that it can strengthen the ticket for the nomination of presidential and vice-presidential candidates to win the 2024 election.

"But, if assisted by friends of the general chairman who is in front, this premium ticket turns into a VIP (ticket)", he said.
