Ganjar Ready To Become A Presidential Candidate In 2024, PDIP: Ready When Assigned

JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) has asked that the statement from the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, who is ready to be assigned to the 2024 presidential election, should not be exaggerated. Those words are considered a form of readiness for a cadre when he gets an assignment.

"What Pak Ganjar said should not become political gimmicks. Because yes, at a party like that. Everyone is ready to be assigned", said PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto to reporters at Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 19.

Quoting Ganjar's full statement, Hasto said, all cadres must of course be ready if called upon by the nation and state. "Every party cadre, when, it's clear, for the nation and state, everything must be ready", he said.

Even so, Hasto said his party would not talk about the presidential and vice presidential candidates. According to him, PDIP is now prioritizing helping the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Moreover, President Jokowi's government faces various threats, especially in the economic sector. "The current priority scale is that all cadres go down to pursue the highest achievements in the community", said Hasto.

Furthermore, Hasto also ensured that Ganjar's statement did not violate party discipline. The reason is that he only stated that he was ready to be assigned but did not mention himself as a candidate.

"Pak Ganjar will talk [about candidacy] if he is assigned. Yes if. In a context like this, we are talking about the priority scale of all party cadres going down to the bottom to pursue the highest achievement in the community", he said.

As previously reported, Ganjar admitted that he was ready to be assigned as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. However, he left the decision entirely to the party as a PDIP cadre.

"As for the nation and state, what are we not ready for", said Ganjar in an interview quoted on Tuesday, October 18 evening.

He believes the party certainly decides everything that is best. The dialogue will also definitely take place before decision-making.

"When the party has discussed it in its entirety and he will look for the nation's children who they think are the best, in my opinion, everyone must be ready for that", he said.

"So why at the beginning as a political elite we really respected, one PDIP as my party, the two relationships that were built by the parties that are currently talking", continued Ganjar.

For information, the name Ganjar Pranowo is predicted to be nominated as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Several surveys even put his electability at the top of the list competing with political figures, including former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
