Heru explained that there were three causes of flooding. Among them are tidal waves or sea water rise, local rain, and water shipments from upstream or buffer areas.

In an effort to overcome tidal flooding, Heru will anticipate it by building reservoirs and continuing the construction and repair of embankments in North Jakarta and West Jakarta.

Regarding local rain that causes flooding, the DKI Provincial Government will revitalize the waterways. "It can revitalize existing channels. This is in the near term, strengthen pump houses, put pump houses in strategic places and in places of congestion due to flooding," said Heru.

In the cause of flooding from upstream, Heru will coordinate with the Minister of PUPR for the construction of reservoirs in buffer areas to the construction of water drains and various other efforts.
