KPK: Banggai Laut Regent Receives Bribes From Contractors

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Investigative Team arrested the Regent of Banggai Laut, Wenny Bukamo and 15 other people. They were arrested during a hand-arrest operation in Banggai Kepulauan Regency and Luwuk Regency, Central Sulawesi.

Wenny and 15 other people were arrested by the KPK for being involved in a bribery transaction. The KPK secured them after carrying out the transaction.

"On Thursday at around 13.00 WIB, the KPK arrested several parties suspected of committing criminal acts of corruption in the proud regency of the islands and Luwuk Central Sulawesi district," said Acting KPK spokesperson for prosecution Ali Fikri in his statement, Jakarta, Friday, December 4. .

Based on provisional information, Wenny was arrested for allegedly receiving gifts or promises or bribes from private parties or contractors working on the project.

"The allegation of corruption in this case is related to the giving of a sum of money from the private sector or the contractor for the implementation of the work to state officials, in this case the regent of Banggai Laut allegedly received it," said Ali.

However, unfortunately Ali has not yet explained in detail the project that made Wenny to accept bribes from the contractor. Ali also did not mention the amount of money confiscated by the investigating team in this OTT as well as the nominal fee that had been received or promised to Wenny.

Currently, dozens of people who have been arrested, including Wenny, are still undergoing intensive investigation by the KPK Task Force team. Anti-corruption agencies have 1x24 hours after the OTT to determine their legal status.
