Komnas HAM Findings: Situasi Masih Kondusif 20 Minutes After Arema Vs Persebaya Ended, Setelah Itu Muncul Gas Air Mata

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) explained the results of the investigation into the tragedy of chaos at the Malang Argurah Stadium. One of the findings is that conditions are still conducive for 20 minutes after the Arema FC match against Persebaya ended.

"That about 14-20 minutes after the long whistle signaling the match was finished, the conditions at the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium were still under control," Komnas HAM Commissioner Choirul Anam told reporters, Wednesday, October 12.

In fact, the information and evidence collected from various parties stated that Arema FC players had apologized to Aremania for the defeat.

Then, Aremania also approached the players who were in the dressing room. The goal is to give encouragement.

"Indeed there are supporters who enter the field, but that is to encourage them," he said.

After that moment occurred, there was a tear gas shooting by the police. The shot was considered the main cause of the death toll.

"This figure is important for us to actually measure when tear gas comes out and so on, in our opinion, that is the main trigger for the panic of the fans which resulted in the death toll and injuries," said Anam.

For information, the tragedy of the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium at least 132 people died. Then, hundreds of other people suffered minor to serious injuries.

In handling the case, the National Police have named six suspects. They include the President Director of PT LIB, Akhmad Hadian Lukita, Chairman of Panpel Arema FC Abdul Haris, and Security Officer Arema, Suko Sutrisno.

Then, the Head of the Malang Police Ops Division, Kompol Wahyu Setyo Pranoto, Head of Samapta Malang Police AKP Bambang Sidik Achmadi, and the East Java Police Mobile Brigade Company Commander AKP Hasdarman.

They are suspected of under Article 359 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 360 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 130 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 52 of Law Number 11 of 2022.

In addition to the six names named by the suspect, the police also examined 31 Polri personnel. From that result, 20 people were found to be suspected of violating the code of ethics.
