JAKARTA - BUMD PAM Jaya has created a water transfer tub and pump in the Marunda Kepu area, Cilincing, North Jakarta. This is done to increase the thrust of water stronger in Marunda Kepu which has been experiencing a clean water crisis.

PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin said that the work on making tubs and transfer pumps will begin this month and is targeted to be completed in December 2022.

"We have carried out network configurations, but so that water supply can be optimal in Marunda Kepu, we also make tubs and transfer pumps to increase pressure," said Arief in his statement, Wednesday, October 12.

Arief explained that network management to Marunda Kepu has been carried out by branching lanes on Marunda Access Road, branching to the Nusantara Bekat Area (KBN) and PC 76 Valve 600 mm on Jalan Reform-Access Marunda, the branch before input Marunda Kepu PC 7706 in Kampung Bidara, and the branch after the BKT bridge to PC 7706 in Bulak Turi.

Furthermore, the tub that will be built by PAM JAYA has a capacity of 18.6 m3 with a pump with a capacity of up to 5 liters per second placed before the East Flood Canal (BKT).

On that occasion, Arief explained that PAM Jaya had installed a master meter since July 2017 to serve the residents of Marunda Kepu. However, over time there is an increase in the needs that must be met.

In Marunda Kepu, there was an increase in demand compared to the beginning of the master meter building. This means that the water that was previously sufficient, now needs to be improved," said Arief.

Over time, the development of the area upstream of Marunda Kepu has caused the need for water upstream to increase. In addition, technically the difference in elevation on the East Flood Canal bridge caused pressure to drop significantly.

Therefore, in the meantime, PAM Jaya has provided water supply to residents there through tank cars since May 2022.

We always ensure that residents in Marunda Kepu can meet their water needs. So, since May 2022 until now, we have sent water through tank cars up to 2,068 cubic meters, or more than two million liters of water for residents," explained Arief.
