The Chatham Police Department asked for help from the FBI when Quinton Simon was reported missing, police chief Jeffrey Hadley said.

"We believe with continued help from the FBI, we will have progress in this case," he said. "We understand that people far outside Chatham County have been emotionally involved in this incident and the search for Quinton and they want answers. We are committed to finding that answer and we are committed to finding Quinton."

Although officials initially said there were no suspected violations, Hadley said the possible disappearance of the toddler could be a criminal investigation.

"We don't have anything confirmed so we can't say anything absolute, but it's fair to say that in our efforts - and cooperation with the FBI and they provide us with a lot of resources - that we are looking at aspects of that criminal investigation as well," he said.

Hadley continued, everyone suspected of being involved is under investigation. Including anyone who had contact with Quinton Simon before he disappeared.
