JAKARTA - Seven houses and one school were damaged by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5, the center of which is southwest of the Bayah District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province, on Sunday 9 October afternoon. According to the Head of the Lebak Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Febby Rizky Pratama, the earthquake caused damage to houses and schools in the Cirinten, Bojongmanik and Cibeber sub-districts.

"Residents affected by the earthquake did not evacuate because the condition of the house could still be occupied," he said, adding that the earthquake did not cause any casualties.

BPBD Lebak is still continuing to check to record the impact of the earthquake that occurred on Sunday (9/10) afternoon.

Febby appealed to residents to be aware of the possibility of aftershocks. He also asked residents to be prepared to face the possibility of flooding or landslides when heavy rains fell accompanied by strong winds.

"We ask people who live in areas prone to natural disasters to increase their vigilance and preparedness," he said.
