JAKARTA - The Independent Fact Finding Joint Team (TGIPF) of the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium incident met with various related parties and directly inspected the Kanjuruhan Stadium, East Java, to investigate the tragedy that killed 131 people.

TGIPF member of the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium, Major General TNI (Ret.) Suwarno, said the team met with all relevant security elements, both from the police, Brimob, field controllers, and the TNI.

"We have received information from elements of the organizing committee in the field, elements of the steward, from the security officer; and today, the team had time to look at the Kanjuruhan Stadium. We will use all this information as input and later we will process it in Jakarta," Suwarno said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

According to him, the TGIPF team also met several Aremania representatives, who experienced it directly at the time of the incident in Kanjuruhan on Saturday last week. The team hopes to get some comprehensive input from all elements.

Meanwhile, TGIPF member Nugroho Setiawan, who is also an AFC Safety Security Officer, said that the temporary conclusion was that the Kanjuruhan Stadium was not suitable for high-risk matches.

"Maybe medium or low risk can still be done. So, it means that for a high risk match we have to make a very concrete calculation, for example, how to get the audience out in an emergency; while what I see is that the entrance functions as an exit, it is not adequate, then there is no emergency exit," he explained.

Therefore, Nugroho continued, the next effort that must be made is to repair and change the door structure at the Kanjuruhan Stadium.

"We are also considering aspects of access, such as household descriptions," said PFA Guardian Committee Chairman.

TGIPF has met most of the parties involved in the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, Saturday, which led to riots that killed hundreds of supporters.

The team, chaired directly by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD, continues to work to meet public expectations to produce a thorough search of facts on the Kajuruhan tragedy.
