MANOKWARI - Land access in Manokwari Regency, South Manokwari, Buntuni and Arfak Mountains has been paralyzed since Friday, October 7, due to being blocked by residents of Maripi Village, Manokwari Regency.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Adam Erwindi, confirmed the blockade of the Trans Papua Barat route. Allegedly, the action was triggered by a villager who died in an accident.
"Initial information was that residents of Maripi village blocked road access due to one of their residents being victims of a traffic accident. The incident was being handled by the West Papua Police Traffic Directorate," said Adam Erwindi when confirmed, quoted from Antara.
The Director of Traffic of the West Papua Police, Kombes Raydian Kokrosono, confirmed that the accident between the Toyota Avanza and the Honda Sonic motorcycle occurred on Jalan Trikora Maripi, Manokwari Selatan District, Manokwari Regency at around 07.15 WIT.

He said that until now road access is still closed by residents, so traffic flows are temporarily diverted through alternative routes.
"For the smooth running of the general public's activities, the Trikora Maripi road access is temporarily diverted through the Kampung Prafi route," he said.
