Heavy Rain, 7 Roads in South Jakarta Flood 30 Centimeters

JAKARTA - Some areas in Jakarta, especially South Jakarta, were hit by heavy rains. 7 roads in south Jakarta flooded up to 30 centimeters. This condition causes the vehicle to be unable to pass.

DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) floods occurred on TB Simatupang Street, Cilandak District; Jeruk Purut Street, Pasar Minggu District; Pejaten Raya Street, Pasar Minggu District.

Then, a 30-centimeter flood also hit Raya Tanjung Barat Street, Jagakarsa District; Intan Street, Cilandak District; Police Complex Road, Setiabudi District; and Karang Tengah Raya Street, Cilandak District.

Head of the DKI BPBD Data and Information Processing Implementation Unit, Michael O. Sitanggang, said that his party has now deployed personnel to monitor the current conditions and suck up puddles in the local regional work unit (SKPD).

"The DKI Jakarta BPBD is deploying personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each area, and coordinating elements from the Natural Resources Service, Bina Marga Office, and Gulkarmat Service to carry out inundation suction together with the local village heads and sub-district heads. The inundation is targeted to recede in a short time", Michael told journalists, Thursday, October 6th.

In addition, there were 5 RTs in South Jakarta that experienced flooding due to this heavy rain. One of them is 1 Neighborhood Association (RT) in Pondok Pinang Village with a height of 50 centimeters.

In addition, 1 RT in Pejaten Barat Village with water levels reaching 40 centimeters, and 3 RTs in North Cipete Village with water levels up to 1.2 meters.

"The cause of 5 RT inundated is high rainfall", said Michael.

On that occasion, Michael appealed to the public to remain careful and alert to the potential for inundation that occurred. Bearing in mind, the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has issued information on extreme weather alerts in Jakarta from October 2 to 8, 2022.

"In an emergency, immediately call the telephone number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop", he added.
