PALEMBANG - South Sumatra Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) officers thwarted an attempt to send a package of methamphetamine with a total weight of 5 kilograms in Musi Banyuasin Regency. Head of the South Sumatra BNNP Brigadier General Djoko Prihadi said the evidence of methamphetamine was obtained from the suspect Hamdi (33), a resident of Palembang City. The suspect Hamdi was caught carrying the drug package during a raid by BNN officers at the Balailaku Village Bridge intersection, Musi Banyuasin, Sunday evening. “ There were five packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing a total of 5 kilograms that the suspect brought, all packed in the pempek 'Cek Ida' food box to trick the officers,” he told reporters in Palembang, Antara, Tuesday, November 4. The suspect admitted that he was only a courier who was paid Rp. 1 million to deliver the package from Palembang to the Mother's Prayer Week on Jalan Lingkar Randik 20, Kayu Ara, Sekayu, Musi Banyuasin. From this information, the officers immediately carried out developments until they finally arrested another suspect, Aan Irawan alias Yan, a resident of Sekayu City, Musi Banyuasin. According to Djoko, the two suspects are known to be a network of inter-provincial drug dealers for the areas destinations of Palembang, Pekanbaru and Batam cities. He suspects that the evidence of methamphetamine brought by the suspect came from Malaysia. This was obtained based on the characteristics of the plastic wrap used. The drug, he said, was wrapped in a plastic green tea drink written in the same mandarin letter as the previous case disclosure. “ The two suspects have now been detained at the South Sumatra BNNP Office for further investigation,” he said.
