SOLO - The Surakarta City Government has made Fort Vastenburg a quarantine place for people who are desperate to go home during the year-end holidays.

"Fort Vastenburg is an alternative. I borrow it from December 10 to January 10, 2021," said Surakarta Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo quoted from Antara, Tuesday, December 1

FX Rudy said that the travelers will undergo quarantine at the fort using tents. Vastenburg Fort was chosen because the city government did not have a large empty building to be used as a quarantine place.

"Starting December 10-15, we will prepare the floor. Also install the tent, bed and electricity. What is clear is that this is in anticipation of a long holiday," he said.

According to FX Rudy, quarantine for travelers will be carried out for 14 days. He hopes that the existence of a quarantine location for travelers for the Christmas and New Year 2021 holidays can change residents' intention to go home.

"We do not want the COVID-19 cases in Solo to continue to rise so we need a firm stance," he said.

Previously, FX Rudy urged residents not to go home first, while residents in Solo City should not travel outside the city.

"We also do not want COVID-19 exposure outside Solo, so we are equally fair. Solo people do not leave the city, do not go home to Solo outside the city. We ask that Christmas and New Year be celebrated in their respective cities. to Solo first, here (Solo, ed.) the numbers are also high, "he said.
