The Governor And His Deputy Are Positive For COVID-19, The Ministry Of Home Affairs Calles Jakarta Still Led By Anies

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and his deputy Ahmad Riza Patria tested positive for COVID-19. Both are currently in isolation for 14 days.

Responding to this, the Director General (Dirjen) of Regional Autonomy (Otda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Akmal Malik prayed for him so that the former Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) would recover quickly.

"Hopefully he will get well soon," said Akmal when contacted by VOI, Monday, December 1.

While related to the presence or absence of the task force when Anies and his deputy, Ahmad Riza Patria tested positive for COVID-19, Akmal said in accordance with Anies' previous statement, the appointment of the task force would not be carried out.

This is because the appointment of the executor of this task will only be carried out if the regional head and his deputy are temporarily absent.

"Pak Anies' statement, 'I will continue to work from home, virtually, lead meetings virtually. Since March I have been accustomed to working virtually and God willing, there will be no disruption in the decision-making process and governance'. Obviously yes," he said.

Previously reported, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was confirmed positive for COVID-19. This result follows the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria, who previously tested positive since last Friday, November 27.

Anies said that he is currently in good condition and is in the category of people without symptoms (OTG). Now, he is undergoing self-isolation and following treatment procedures set by the medical team.

"I will carry out independent isolation in a separate place from my family and live alone. Meanwhile, my family will remain in a private residence," Anies said in his statement, Tuesday, December 1.

Anies said he was tested positive for COVID-19 based on the results of the PCR swab test that came out early Tuesday.

On Monday afternoon, November 30, Anies had indeed carried out a PCR swab test at the DKI Jakarta City Hall. Meanwhile, Riza tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, November 29.

Currently, Anies continued, all close contacts, both family and staff in the office, have been tested for PCR. Although positive, Anies will continue to chair the meetings that have been scheduled and will be held virtually.

“I will continue to work leading meetings virtually. Since last March we have been accustomed to working virtually, and God willing, there will be no disturbed policy making process, ”he explained.
