Mahfud MD Summons PSSI, Menpora And National Police Chief Discuss Handling Kanjuruhan Tragedy This Morning

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD will hold a coordination meeting to discuss the handling of the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, East Java (East Java).

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs will summon PSSI, Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in a coordination meeting to be held today, Monday 3 October, at 09.00 WIB.

"I invited a coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Social Affairs, the Commander of the Armed Forces, the National Police Chief, KONI, PSSI at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to discuss these matters," said Mahfud, quoted from the Youtube channel of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Monday 3 October.

President Joko Widodo, he continued, requested that immediate steps be taken to deal with the Kanjuruhan tragedy that occurred after the Arema FC vs. Persebaya Surabaya match on Saturday, October 1 night.

These include improving the world of football in the future and examining if there are legal actions, violations of the law, or sabotage in the event to be investigated and acted upon appropriately according to the rule of law.

"Anyone who intentionally or who was negligent in the occurrence of this incident," he said, according to Antara.

According to Mahfud, the government is serious about following up, rehabilitating, and resolving problems that arose as a result of the Kanjuruhan tragedy in the Liga 1 football match in Malang.

In fact, he said, President Jokowi after delivering direct instructions to the Indonesian people also directly asked the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to immediately hold a coordination meeting between ministries and related institutions and organizations to take steps.

First, he said, to conduct research if there is a possibility of a violation of the law or a criminal act in the incident.

Second, carry out rehabilitation and compensation for victims and their families who are currently under treatment or who have been buried due to death.

"Then, they were asked to anticipate the management of the world of football, the Indonesian League in the future to be more orderly and more civilized and not give a bad image in the international world," he said.

Based on the latest data, it was recorded that 125 people died as a result of the tragedy at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, and 323 people were injured.
