JAKARTA - Head of the Public Relations Division (Kadivhumas) of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Dedi Prasetyo said a team from the police, TNI, and the East Java Provincial Government were working to investigate the tragedy of the riots at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya, Saturday night, October 1.

Dedi said the National Police Headquarters directly monitored the handling of the tragedy and ensured that the team worked to complete it.

Regarding the rules for using tear gas when the tragedy occurred, Dedi conveyed that he was waiting for developments from the East Java Police.

Previously, it was reported that 127 people were reported to have died in the tragedy that occurred at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya.

East Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Nico Afinta at a press conference in Malang Regency, East Java, Sunday, said that 2 of the 127 people who died were members of the National Police.

He explained that as many as 34 people were reported to have died at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, while the rest died while getting help at a number of local hospitals.
