P20 It Is Believed To Be Able To Bring Positive Effects For Indonesian Tourism

JAKARTA - The DPR is ready to hold The 8th G20 Parliamentary Speaker Summit (P20) which will be held next week. DPR Speaker Puan Maharani believes that the prestigious international forum will have a positive impact on Indonesian tourism.

"The DPR RI is optimistic that the implementation of P20 will have a positive impact on tourist visits to a number of tourism destinations in Indonesia," said Puan, Friday, September 30.

The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives believes that the presence of parliamentary leaders and G20 heads of state along with their delegates and other world invited guests will increase state revenues in the tourism sector.

Moreover, according to Puan, the international community already knows Indonesia as a country that has natural beauty.

"I believe that the delegates and P20 guests and the G20 Summit do not want to lose the moment to visit our various tourist destinations when they come to Indonesia," he said.

P20 will be held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on 6-7 October 2022. P20 is a parliamentary forum for G20 countries held in a series of G20 Summits.

In addition to holding the G20 presidency for the first time, Indonesia is also the host for the multilateral forum. The G20 event, including the implementation of P20, is overall predicted to contribute to the projection of increasing foreign tourists to 1.8 million3.6 million people.

"The implementation of P20 and the G20 Summit certainly have a direct impact on the Indonesian people with a visit from the envoys of friendly countries who come to Indonesia," said Puan.

The P20 and G20 events are known to be able to support 600 thousand-700 thousand new jobs, including in the culinary, fashion and craft sectors. The series of these two world events also involved MSMEs that absorbed around 33,000 workers.

Therefore, the DPR asks for people's support for the success of the P20 event and the G20 Summit. Given, said Puan, the P20 and G20 series have started to be carried out some time ago with locations in a number of areas.

"The momentum for the implementation of P20 and the G20 Summit must be utilized as well as possible for economic recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The community can participate in enlivening these two events through various ways that can increase people's economic growth," said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Puan stated that the Indonesian House of Representatives had encouraged G20 guests and delegates not only to visit Jakarta or Bali, which was the venue for the P20 and the G20 Summit. The kick-off of the P20 Meeting which had previously been held in Surabaya, East Java.

"We want state guests who come to Indonesia to visit other tourism destinations such as Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat, Lake Toba, Lombok, and others," said Puan.

"Hopefully the presence of the envoys of countries that are members of the G20 can be a booster for our tourism world," added the grandson of the proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia Bung Karno.

The DPR carries the theme "Stronger Parliament for Sustainable Recovery" in P20 which is in line with the theme of the G20 Presidency, namely "Recover Together, Recover Stronger". There are four main issues raised by the DPR in the prestigious international forum.

The first is about sustainable development and a green economy. The second is about an inclusive economy and a strong economy to face the latest challenges, namely the food, energy, and stagnation crisis.

The third issue in the P20 will be related to effective parliament and dynamic democracy. Then the fourth issue is about gender equality and women's empowerment.
