Love Febri Diansyah's Choice Of Lawyer For Sambo's Wife, ICW: Gegabah!

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) regrets the decision of former KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah to be the lawyer for the wife of former Propam Kadiv Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, Putri Candrawati. He was considered rash because he defended the perpetrators of the murder of Nopriansyah Joshua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.

"The decision to accompany the legal process of someone suspected of committing premeditated murder and tends to be uncooperative towards the legal process is a very rash step," said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement, Friday, September 30.

"For that we regret that the choice was finally taken by Febri," he continued.

Kurnia was surprised by Febri's narrative about siding with the victims of the crime. According to him, if this is true, the lawyer should not have defended Putri.

Moreover, Putri and her husband were uncooperative from the start of this case. "With the narrative that they will always side with the victims of crime, Febri should not have taken the decision to accompany the suspect in premeditated murder like Ferdy's wife," he said.

This anti-corruption activist asked no more parties to associate Febri's decision with ICW. Kurnia said that legal assistance to Putri was purely a personal decision.

"The decision of Febri Diansyah to join the legal team of Sambo's wife is a personal attitude in question and has nothing to do with ICW," he said.

As previously reported, former KPK employee Febri Diansyah-Rasamala Aritonang became the lawyer for Putri Candawathi-Ferdy Sambo. They were officially introduced on Thursday, September 28.

At that introduction, Febri and Rasamala confirmed that they had met their clients. They confirmed that they would not blindly defend Putri-Ferdy.

"I have clearly conveyed that the legal assistance that will be carried out with the team is objective legal assistance, not indiscriminately, not blaming the right and not justifying the wrong," he told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday, September 28.
