JAKARTA - Former Director General (Dirjen) of Regional Finance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Mochamad Ardian Noervianto is scheduled to undergo a sentencing hearing at the Corruption Court (Tipikor), Jakarta, Wednesday, September 27. "It is true, according to today's trial agenda, the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court will read out the verdict of the defendant Mochamad Ardian Noervianto," said Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) News Section Ali Fikri in a written statement received in Jakarta as reported by Antara. Meanwhile, Ardian is a defendant in a bribery case related to the national economic recovery loan (PEN) for East Kolaka Regency in the 2021 fiscal year. The PEN fund is a fund budgeted by the Government to help regions throughout Indonesia to recover after the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on Antara's observation, at around 10.30 WIB, the panel of judges had entered the room of M. Ali Hatta at the Corruption Court. Regarding the sentence that will be sentenced to Ardian, Ali assessed that the panel of judges would be fair in giving the verdict. "Of all the trials that are open to the public, we believe the panel of judges will take over all juridical analysis of the KPK prosecutor team so that the defendants are found guilty according to the law and sentenced, as stated in the indictment," said Ali. Previously, the KPK prosecutor demanded that Ardian be sentenced to 8 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 500 million and pay a replacement money of Rp. 1.5 billion in the case of accepting bribes from the inactive East Kolaka Regent, Andy Merya, for the approval of the PEN funds. "Declare that the defendant Mochamad Ardian Noervianto is legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption, as in the first indictment. Sentencing the defendant in the form of imprisonment for 8 years reduced while serving detention and a fine of Rp. 500 million subsidiary 6 months in prison," said KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) Asril at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday (15/9).
