Not Only Lukas Enembe, This Is A Series Of KPK Suspects Who Use Reason To Be Sick Avoid Examination

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that many suspects admitted to being sick when they were about to be examined. This is usually the mode to avoid being summoned by investigators.

"The public certainly still remembers the various modes of the litigants at the KPK, who are trying to avoid KPK examinations under the pretext of health conditions, which are facilitated by their legal counsel or medical team," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday, September 28.

Then who are the suspects who once claimed to be sick when they were about to be questioned by the KPK?

Based on the VOI summary, there are several names of perpetrators of alleged corruption who are sick when they are about to be examined. Most recently, there is the name of the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe.

Based on the confession of his attorney, Stefanus Roy Rening, Lukas was sick so he could not provide information for the second time before investigators on Monday, September 26.

"People who give information must be healthy. If you are sick, how do you want to give information," said Lukas Enembe's attorney, Stefanus Roy Rening, to reporters in Jakarta, Monday, September 26.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Lukas, M. Rifai Danus said the Papuan Governor had undergone surgery three times over the past year. Various operations he has carried out include heart surgery, pancreas, and eye disease.

Former Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Setya Novanto has also used sick reasons to avoid being summoned by investigators. In 2014, when he was about to be questioned as a suspect in corruption in the procurement of e-KTP, he admitted that he had vertigo, kidney, blood sugar, and a heart attack.

In addition, Setya Novanto, assisted by his lawyer, Fredrich Yunadi, avoided the KPK's summons with a collision scenario. This incident occurred in November 2017.

As a result of his actions, Fredrich finally became a suspect in the investigation. He was entangled in Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law with a doctor, Bimanesh Sutardjo.

Next, former Ambon Mayor Richard Louhenapessy also admitted that he was sick and would be questioned by the KPK. The suspect in the alleged corruption in granting permission for the principle of building the Alfamidi outlet said he needed treatment but instead walked around the mall.

As a result of his actions, the KPK then forcibly picked up Richard at a hospital in West Jakarta. The pick-up was carried out because he was considered uncooperative.

After being picked up, Richard is known to have only carried out treatment in the form of removing the stitches. In addition, he also received antibiotic injections at the hospital.
