Jampidsus Reminds Staff Not To Be Afraid Of Fighting Corruptors

JAKARTA - Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah reminded his staff not to be afraid to face the efforts of resisting corruptors by continuing to carry out their duties professionally, thoroughly, and carefully.

"Never be afraid and afraid to face the corruption fight back. As long as I work well, professionally, thoroughly, and carefully, I will continue to maintain the ranks of Special Units throughout Indonesia," said Febrie at the Jampidsus Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) 2022, as quoted by ANTARA from a written statement, Tuesday, September 27.

The resistance of the corruptors to the Attorney General's Office became a phenomenon that emerged late last year, one of which was by spreading rumors to shake up Sanitiar Burhanuddin's position as Attorney General.

In an effort to eradicate corruption, both in government and in state-owned enterprises, Jampidsus has issued Letter Number: B-1862/F/Fjp/08/2022 dated August 23, 2022, regarding the Performance Evaluation of Special Crimes Divisions.

The letter instructs all heads of high prosecutors to accelerate programs for state prosecutors and branches of state prosecutors who do not yet have performance achievements in handling corruption cases, both investigations and examinations so that they can be evaluated and accelerated.

Febrie also asked the state attorney to handle corruption cases that attracted attention and received positive public support as the government's priority program.

He said Jampidsus was a showcase for the success benchmark of law enforcement by the Attorney General's Office.

Based on a survey by the Indicators Survey Institute, for the period of August 11 to 17, the level of public trust in the prosecutor's office increased, at 63.4 percent. In May 59.9 percent.

"The Pidsus field is a showcase for reputation and a benchmark for the success of law enforcement carried out by the prosecutor's office," said Febrie.

The performance of the Attorney General's Office in uncovering mega-corruption cases in state-owned enterprises, such as PT Jiwasraya, Asabri, Garuda Indonesia, and Waskita Beton Precast, received appreciation from President Joko Widodo in his State of the Union address on 16 August.

In fact, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) on the agenda for the 2022 BUMN Legal Summit in Bali, in early September, appreciated the performance of the Attorney General's Office for having the courage to amputate the government's own hand if it commits corruption.

"It can be seen here that high expectations have begun to be given to all ranks of the Special Crimes Division (Pidsus) in an effort to eradicate corruption," said the former Director of the Jampidsus Investigation.

To be able to resolve corruption cases in the region, said Febrie, a strategy is needed by taking the following steps: first, the editorial selection of case titles in the investigation warrant must be precise, not too detailed because it will make it difficult to carry out development.

Furthermore, conducting a search immediately after an investigation warrant is issued, immediately mastering laptops and cellphones, cloning to obtain data that can be used as evidence. In addition, optimizing the use of electronic evidence (BBE) as scientific evidence by using digital forensics.

In addition, optimizing asset confiscation and the application of money laundering offences with the aim of returning and recovering state financial losses. Next, look at the state's economic losses in addition to state financial losses.

"Intelligence is very much needed in the implementation of the above strategy so that all Special Units officers have the same quality in handling corruption cases in their area," said Febrie.
