Shear 5 Hectares Are Ready, Mukomuko Regency Government Is Targeted To Build Prisons In 2023

BENGKULU - The Mukomuko Regency Government (Pemkab) is targeting the construction of a new prison in 2023. The prison needs are called urgent.

"We are targeting the construction of a correctional institution in this area to be carried out in 2023 which is sourced from the state budget," said Assistant I of the Government and Welfare Secretariat of the Mukomuko Regency Government, Abdiyanto, in Mukomuko, Bengkulu, Sunday, September 25.

The Mukomuko Regency Government previously proposed the construction of prisons because the distance between this area and prisons in Bengkulu City was 275 kilometers.

Abdiyanto said the Mukomuko Regency Government had prepared an area of 5 hectares for the construction of a new prison in this area.

"We have prepared five hectares of land next to the RSUD in Air Manjuto District in this area," he added, quoted by Antara.

He added that the location for the land for the construction of strategic prisons is because they are close to the local hospital, the Police Office, and the TNI Headquarters.

"For the location of the prison construction land in this area, it is very strategic to be close to facilities that are a requirement from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights," he said.

Abdiyanto said that the Bengkulu Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office supports the Mukomuko Regency Government's plan. But they have to be patient because there is a process that must be passed before the establishment of the prison.

In addition, he said, a team from the Bengkulu Ministry of Law and Human Rights will go to Mukomuko Regency to confirm whether the proposal is in accordance with the documents they received, namely the distance between Mukomuko Regency and prisons in Bengkulu as far as 275 kilometers from the district.

"In principle, the construction of prisons in this area, in Bengkulu Ministry of Law and Human Rights, has agreed and agrees, but now it is of course waiting for budget priorities from the Ministry of Finance," he said.

He said, if later at the Ministry of Finance there is a budget plot for the construction of prisons, then Mukomuko Regency will prioritize the construction of prisons next year.
