BPBD Gives 4 Tons Of Rice Assistance To Flood And Longsor Affected Residents In Cianjur

JABAR - BPBD distributed 4 tons of rice assistance to victims of floods and landslides in several sub-districts in the southern region of Cianjur, West Java.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman said the rice was taken from a reserve at the Bulog Cianjur warehouse. To ease the burden on victims of natural disasters, his party also distributed cleaning equipment and clothing.

"We provide food and clothing assistance to flood and landslide victims in several sub-districts in the south, ranging from Cibeber, Campaka, Leles, and Sindangbarang," he said in Cianjur, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 25.

Herman explained that the 4 tons of rice assistance will be distributed by the Cianjur BPBD in coordination with the relevant agencies and sub-districts, so that the distribution is right on target for flood victims and other affected ones.

"We also urge residents throughout the Cianjur area to be vigilant and evacuate immediately when they see natural signs of a disaster occurring because most of the Cianjur area is included in the red zone of natural disasters in West Java," said Herman.

Currently, flood victims in a number of areas south of Cianjur are starting to clean their houses from the mud left over by the flood.

Residents in Leles and Sindangbarang sub-districts became victims of the disaster quite badly. Floods with heights ranging from 1 to 2 meters submerged the villages in the two sub-districts.

Herman said no residents had fled. However, most of the residents lost their property and other valuables carried by the flood to reach a height of 2 meters.
