Corn Harvest In Pemalang, Moeldoko: Farmers For Life, Not Just For Life

PEMALANG - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko carried out a corn harvest with the Pamong Gathering Association in Pemalang Regency and thousands of farmers, in Warungpring District, Pemalang, Central Java, Saturday, September 24.

Corn harvest is the result of planting farmers on an area of 11,746 hectares. From the area of the land, the harvest produced is 62,140 tons per year.

Moeldoko said, what the farmers here are doing is a real form of building and maintaining national food security. This is in line with President Joko Widodo's mandate regarding the development and strengthening of the agricultural sector.

"I am very proud, the residents here are very serious about agriculture, even more serious than the Palace. On this occasion I emphasize, the President is very concerned with agriculture. So the farmers must also be more enthusiastic," said Moeldoko in front of thousands of farmers.

Moeldoko, who is also widely referred to as the Tani Commander, invites rural farming communities to create innovations in the management of the agricultural sector.

"Let's leave old habits, farmers only plant and harvest. You, ladies and gentlemen in Pemalang, have to start learning to manage agriculture well. Farming is for life, not farming just to live," exclaimed Moeldoko, who is also the chairman of HKTI.

On that occasion, Moeldoko also listened to complaints from farmers and a number of village officials. Among them, about the availability and high price of fertilizers and tidal flooding that often occur in Ulujami sub-district, Pemalang district.

"I have heard and recorded the complaint of Panjenengan (men and gentlemen), and I will convey it at the meeting at the Palace," concluded Moeldoko.

In addition to harvesting corn, during his working visit to Pemalang district. The commander of the TNI from 2013 to 2015 also visited the MSME festival in Randudongkal field. Before reviewing the MSME stand-stand, Moeldoko was asked to take part in the Jaran Ebeg dance, one of Pemalang's traditional arts.

"Local wisdom like this must be maintained. This is one of the strong foundations for maintaining the sovereignty of our nation," said Moeldoko.
