Police Hunt Robbers Who Shoot Gold Traders in Agam, West Sumatra

AGAM - Police are hunting for a group of robbers who shot a gold trader in Matur Agam District, West Sumatra.

Matur Agam Police Chief Iptu Yance confirmed that his team was hunting for a group of robbers who were known to have damaged their car.

"It's true, we are pursuing them, the perpetrator fled in the Kampung Pisang area, the victim has been treated at the public health center (Puskesmas)", he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 16.

The location of the robbery is a quiet road at kilometer 20 of Bukittinggi, Lubuk-Basung and in this area, there has also been a similar case. It is known that the robbers fled on foot because their car was damaged in the Kampung Pisang area, Agam.

Residents and police hunted the robbers in the forest and canyon area.

"It happened at around 16.00 WIB, the victim's name was Katik (47) a resident of Jorong Panta, Nagar Panta Pauah, Matur District, the victim was shot in the leg, the perpetrators were four people from public information", said Walinagari Parik Panjang, Yulianto.

He said the victim was intercepted on a deserted street and is suspected to have been stalked by a group of robbers who came from the direction of Bukittinggi City. "The victim returned from trading gold in Lawang Market, while on his way to his residence in Panta, the robbers managed to bring the gold and were chased by residents, but because the perpetrators had firearms, people were afraid", he said.
