JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Fire Management and Rescue Sub-Department (Gulkarmat) held a volunteer fire competition (Red-Kar) Challenge in the Hilir Dam area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Friday, September 16.

The competition was attended by dozens of Red-Kar members from seven urban villages in Tanah Abang combined with an preparedness meeting to anticipate the rainy season at the Tanah Abang sub-district level.

Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal, said that the red kar challenge competition for extinguishing fires uses sacks, APAR and portable pumps.

"Seven urban villages throughout Tanah Abang sub-district sent a team of 12 volunteers to take part in the red kar challenge competition. The assessment covered the speed of the team's handling and tiding times during the fire," he said.

Asril Rizal added that every kelurahan in Central Jakarta already has a red-kar personnel consisting of at least 31 people.

"Red kar personnel carry out the task of minimizing or preventing early months of fires in their respective areas," he said.
