MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution plans to build an MSME Plaza to become a forum for educating, accommodating, and marketing the products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this area.

"The Medan City Government will build a UMKM Plaza in front of the USU Campus (University of North Sumatra). Next year we will start the physical construction," Bobby said after signing the MoU with Gojek in Medan, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 15.

Later, he explained, the MSME Plaza will also be filled with various trainings according to the business fields involved, such as culinary-related product packaging, new recipes, and choosing the best food ingredients.

Bobby Nasution gave an example, for example, tape MSME players in Medan Tuntungan District will be able to learn how to package tape products, so that they are attractive and their products can last longer.

Data from the Medan City SME Cooperatives Office states that the number of MSMEs in this area is 27,753 units, consisting of 22,213 micro-enterprises, 5,447 small-scale businesses, and 103 medium-sized businesses.

"We know that Ladang Bambu Village is famous for its MSME tapes. Hopefully, the presence of Plaza MSME will be used as a place for learning in packaging," he explained.

Bobby Nasution also revealed that the signing of this MoU was a form of support for the Medan City Government and Gojek for MSMEs to implement the Saka Sanwira (One Village One Center for Entrepreneurship) program.

"Saka Sanwira is my campaign promise, and the Deputy Mayor of Medan Aulia Rachman. This program is to move the economy, and increase MSME jobs in the region," said Bobby Nasution.

"Through Saka Sanwira, we are targeting all sub-districts to be able to foster and create jobs in their respective regions," said the Mayor of Medan.
