PURWOKERTO - The Central Java Regional Police (Polda) still lack evidence in the disclosure of the discovery of a burning body in the Marina area, Semarang City, some time ago even though the identity of the victim was known.
The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy, said that the burning body found at Marina had been confirmed as Iwan Budi Paulus, the Semarang City Government's state civil apparatus (ASN) which was reported missing some time ago.
According to him, this was known based on the results of a DNA examination conducted by the National Police Headquarters Forensic Laboratory Center on samples taken from Iwan Budi Paulus' two children to match the skeleton of the body.
"Currently we are still investigating 14 people," he said when met in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Antara, Thursday, September 15.
Of the 14 people, eight of them are family parties and four others are colleagues of Iwan Budi Paulus. In addition, he said, his party is also conducting an in-depth investigation of evidence such as surveillance camera footage (CCTV).
"While we still have minimal evidence. But rest assured this will be revealed," said Iqbal.
Iqbal asked the surrounding community if anyone saw or heard when the incident occurred to immediately report it to the Central Java Police so that it could pay attention to these public reports.
"Because at this time the Police are having a bit of difficulty related to the problem of evidence and this is a perfect burn, 100 percent burning," he said.
Asked about the body parts that have been found, he admitted that so far not all of them have been found.
"There are some body parts that have not been found, such as the head, then some parts of the hand, and the leg. But what is certain is that everything has been burned," said the Head of Public Relations.
Previously, a body was found on fire with a motorbike in the Marina Beach area, Semarang City, Central Java, Thursday (8/9).
Together with the body and motorbike which are official vehicles belonging to Iwan Budi, a portable computer, identity nameplate, and a cell phone that allegedly belonged to Iwan Budi Paulus were also found.
Iwan Budi was reported missing the day before being examined as a witness at the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police regarding allegations of corruption in the transfer of assets.
During the follow-up crime scene, the police found the bones of the left hand found not far from the point of burning Iwan Budi's body.
