Ridwan Djamaluddin Said, Jokowi Cares For Special To Babel To Press Inflation

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) Ridwan Djamaluddin said Joko Widodo (Jokowi) paid more attention to his area in suppressing inflation as a result of the transfer of subsidized fuel.

"Currently, Babel inflation is the five highest on the island of Sumatra," said Ridwan Djamaluddin in Pangkalpinang, Tuesday, September 13.

He said President Joko Widodo at a virtual meeting with all regional heads throughout Indonesia on Monday, September 12 asked governors, regents, mayors to work together in controlling inflation, such as working simultaneously to overcome COVID-19.

"At yesterday's meeting with President Jokowi, he mentioned the position of Babel's highest inflation to 5 of the 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra. Therefore, Mr. Jokowi will pay special attention in suppressing inflation in this area," said Ridwan Djamaluddin.

He explained that five of the 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra, with high inflation, namely Jambi, West Sumatra, Babel Islands, Aceh, and Riau Islands, must be controlled by inflation by immediately intervening in the field.

"If it is not intervened immediately, then this will have an impact on increasing the various basic needs of the community and the poverty rate," said Ridwan Djamaluddin as quoted by Antara.

According to him, currently the largest contributors to inflation in Babel come from high air transportation rates and various basic necessities from outside the region.

"We will strengthen cooperation between regions to map the sources of goods, so that we can buy them at an efficient cost," he said.
