JAKARTA - The daughter of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Monday called for 'decent' medical treatment, for her father who is serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption.

On September 4, Najib was treated at the Kuala Lumpur hospital, which an aide said was a routine medical examination, but was able to attend court hearings the following day.

His daughter, Nooryana Najwa, alleged in a social media post on Monday that the doctor who met Najib again on September 10 had set a change in treatment, dropping her back to the prison complex.

Najib's request to remain under surveillance at the hospital was rejected, he said. He did not specify whether his request was rejected by the Department of Prison or hospital. The Department of Prison did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"Basically for humanity, our families have pleaded with prison authorities, hospitals, and the government to do the right thing and allow fathers to receive proper medical treatment and observation," Nooryana said.

He added that the former prime minister's blood pressure was'very high' and he had been suffering from ulcers, a medical problem he said had repeated for more than 15 years.

Separately, Director General of the Ministry of Health Noor Hisham Abdullah said Najib was being treated as an elective case to ensure his good health, where doctors held two meetings with him and his family to discuss the test results.

"They were also notified of a unanimous decision by consulting experts that he was allowed to be sent home," he said in a statement.

Media reported that Najib was in court on Monday morning for another corruption hearing and would be taken to hospital in the afternoon.

Malaysia's High Court on August 23 rejected Najib's appeal to waive his confidence on charges of corruption and money laundering in cases linked to the billion-dollar scandal in state funds 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Najib, 69, which has also been fined nearly $50 million, has consistently denied wrongdoing and has filed a royal amnesty.

In addition, he remains on trial in four other cases, each carrying a severe prison sentence and financial punishment.
