JAKARTA - Papua Governor Lukas Enembe was prevented from going abroad for six months. This prevention is a request from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement of the Directorate General of Immigration received a prevention application to the subject on behalf of Lukas Enembe", said Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram in a written statement, Monday, September 12.

The request for prevention was submitted by the KPK on Wednesday, September 7 last. Luke is prevented until March 7, 2023.

"The person concerned is prohibited from traveling abroad during the prevention period", said Surya.

Furthermore, the Directorate General of Immigration has entered Lukas' name into the Immigration Management Information System (SIMKIM) which is connected to immigration checkpoints at airports, seaports, and Cross-border Posts throughout Indonesia. Lukas certainly will not be able to travel abroad.

Lukas Enembe has been the Governor of Papua since 2013. He previously served as the Regent of Puncak Jaya.

The prevention is suspected to be related to allegations of corruption that are being investigated by the KPK. However, until now the anti-corruption commission has not said anything.
