JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono has coordinated with the Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Teten Masduki so that cooperatives can provide diesel-subsidized fuel for fishermen.
This needs to be done because of the approximately 11,000 fishing villages, there are only about 388 fishermen's Fuel Filling Stations (SPBN) available.
"Last night I coordinated with the Minister of Cooperatives, so there were around 11,000 fishing villages but the total gas stations (SPBN) were only 388. One of them is we are collaborating with cooperatives, where Pertalite can be converted into diesel," said Minister Trenggono in a working meeting with Commission IV of the DPR, in Jakarta, Monday, September 12.
Minister Trenggono emphasized that the KKP is fully committed and will always be present for fishermen, especially in difficult times such as the current increase in fuel.
The government is committed to providing protection and empowerment of fishermen to improve their welfare by continuing to facilitate subsidized fuel access for small fishermen.
"Short-term efforts are the provision of fuel so that it does not decrease as much as possible," he said.
Trenggono said his party had also coordinated with Pertamina and the Oil and Gas Downstreaming Agency (BPH) to increase subsidized fuel quotas to each fishing fuel distribution agency. This is done so that there is no ship accumulation in several fishing ports.
He also ensured that the government was registering which areas experienced a subsidized fuel supply shortage.
"We are maximal, as much as possible because this fuel is a procurement policy by Pertamina and distribution through BPH Migas. We have done that, we are intensely doing it," said Trenggono.
Previously, KKP Secretary General Antam Novambar said that apart from coordinating with Pertamina and BPH Migas, KKP has also coordinated with the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) so that fishermen or business actors can get a price of non-subsidized fuel at special prices.
"For sure, we have coordinated to get fuel prices and an increase in quota for fishermen," he added.
On the other hand, Antam added that the government also continues to encourage the private sector and cooperatives to be able to build fish stations.
Furthermore, the government also continues to build a system regarding the ownership of fishing vessels so that the process of distributing fuel can be faster, more targeted with a simpler and easier stage.
