The KPK Rest Assured Anies Baswedan To Know A Lot About Formula E

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believes DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan knows a lot about the implementation of the Formula E racing event. This reason made him investigated by investigators for 11 hours on Wednesday, September 7.

"It's not the time it means, but let us interpret it, maybe what is being examined is a lot of knowledge about an event," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, which was broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Friday, September 9.

Anies, continued Firli, was summoned because investigators needed his statement. Thus, the examination was used to investigate allegations of corruption during the international event.

"As I said, he knows, he experienced, heard, he saw for himself, that's four elements," he said.

He asked the public not to speculate about the examination. Because, for the time being, Anies was examined did not indicate that the former Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) was involved.

"So it's long, the questions are many, because for the sake of gathering information and evidence, that's in his interest," said Firli.

Previously, the KPK had examined Anies Baswedan on Wednesday, September 7 yesterday. The examination lasted 11 hours since 09.30 WIB.

When out after undergoing the examination, Anies immediately stood in front of the loudspeakers prepared by his staff. He initially said he was happy to be able to help the KPK carry out its duties.

"I want to say that I am very happy to be back able to help the KPK in carrying out its duties," Anies told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building.

Next, he revealed that when he was still an academic, there were anti-corruption courses that his students had to take. Likewise, when Anies served as governor, he also created the Capital City Corruption Prevention Commission.

"When I formed Team 8 at that time I was invited, I stated that I was able to help the KPK. When we served in the government in Jakarta, we also formed the Capital City Corruption Prevention Commission to help with the task of preventing corruption," said Anies.

"And thank God we were invited today to help, we were here to help carry out what the KPK needed," he continued.

Meanwhile, regarding the examination, Anies did not explain further. He only said that he gave information regarding Formula E.

"That was what we were asked to provide information assistance and have been submitted," he said.
