TUBAN - Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko attended the 52nd Haul Masyayikh of the Langitan Islamic Boarding School, in Tuban district, East Java, Thursday, September 8. Moeldoko, who was accompanied by the Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office, Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, was greeted directly by the caretaker of the Langitan Islamic boarding school KH. In his remarks, Moeldoko praised character education at the Langitan Islamic boarding school. Where, he said, the founders and caregivers gave a doctrine that renewal and modernization should not change or reduce the orientation and idealism of pesantren.

We understand that the world is currently experiencing extraordinary changes, very quickly, full of risks, complexity, and surprises. But this pesantren principle outlines a very clear limit, that after all, changes in the orientation and idealism of pestresn must be maintained. This is an extraordinary character education," said Moeldoko.

"With character education like this, Islamic boarding schools of Langitan will give birth to excellent generations who are ready to become future leaders," he continued.

Moeldoko believes that pesantren, mosques, prayer rooms are a place to instill character education in accordance with the values of Islamic teachings. He also told how he got trained when he was a child who violated or was surprised.

My childhood was violated (surf). That's where I was trained by my teacher. Pray on time, recite the Koran and others. If I didn't become a child, I might not have become a general," he said.

On that occasion, Moeldoko also expressed his highest appreciation to the Islamic boarding school of Langitan, which has become a stronghold in the face of threats of radicalism and intolerance.

The Langitan Islamic Board has proven to have a big role in dealing with threats that could damage the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Representing the government, I express my highest appreciation. Let's take care of this nation," concluded Moeldoko, who is now also nicknamed the Unitary Officer of the Republic of Indonesia.
