KPK Suspects Kingmi Mile Church Construction Deviates Due to Mimika Regent's Cheating

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that there were discrepancies, including regarding the work period during the construction of the Kingmi Mile Church in Mimika Regency, Papua. This is allegedly due to fraudulent practices by the Regent of Mimika Eltinus Omaleng.

"On the way, the progress of the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church is not by the completion timeframe as stated in the contract", said KPK Chairman, Firli Bahuri, at a press conference at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 8.

In addition, there has been a shortage of work volume even though payments have been made. This resulted in state financial losses of up to tens of billions of rupiah.

"As a result of the actions of the suspects resulted in state financial losses of at least around IDR 21.6 billion of the contract value of IDR 46 billion", he said.

Firli said the actions of the suspects had violated Presidential Regulation Number 54 of 2010 concerning the procurement of government goods and services.

Moreover, in the process, there have been various arrangements by Eltinus. One of them directly appointed PT Waringin Megah led by Teguh Anggara.

From this appointment, it is suspected that there was an agreement to provide a fee of 10 percent, of which 7 percent was for Eltinus and 3 percent for Teguh.

In addition, it is suspected that there is a subcontractor from another company, namely PT Kuala Persada Papua Nusantara (KPPN) who works without a contract agreement.

"From this project, it is suspected that EO also received the money for around IDR 4.4 billion", he said.

As previously reported, Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng was officially detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after being forcibly picked up. He is a suspect in the alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika Regency, Papua.

Apart from Eltinus, two other suspects have been named by the KPK but have not been arrested. They are the Head of the Welfare Section of the Mimika Regency Secretariat who is the official commitment maker (PPK) Marthen Sawy and the Director of PT Waringin Megah (WM), Teguh Anggara.

For their actions, the suspects are suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
