From Housewives To Journalists, 4 Identitys Of Yogyakarta Residents Were Profited As Parpol Participants For The 2024 General Election

YOGYAKARTA - A total of four names of Yogyakarta City residents are painted as members of a political party for the registration of 2024 election participants.

Coordinator of the Public Relations and Inter-Institutional Relations Supervisory Division of the Yogyakarta City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Noor Harsya Aryo Samudro said the identities of the four residents were known to be profited based on the latest reports that came to his side.

"In these 2 weeks, we have received four reports from residents regarding profiteering included as members of political parties for the 2024 election," said Noor Harsya in Yogyakarta, Thursday, September 8.

He said all the reports were then forwarded to the General Elections Commission (KPU) of Yogyakarta City to be followed up in the administrative verification process of political parties that are currently underway.

Bawaslu Yogyakarta City recommended that the Yogyakarta City KPU cross-check the four names in the Political Party Information System (Sipol) to declare that they do not meet the requirements as members of political parties.

The four names were written by four different political parties and all residents concerned had never registered or been registered as members of certain political parties.

"The background of the four residents who reported this was different, there were private employees, housewives, and journalists," he said.

The four political parties that used the names of these residents also came from old political parties and new political parties.

"The profiteering of the names of residents as members of this political party is an administrative violation so that the sanctions are administrative in nature, one of which states that the names of political party members do not meet the requirements," he said.

Before registration for political parties was opened, Noor Harsya said that the Yogyakarta City Bawaslu had sent a letter to all political parties in the city to participate in registration properly, including ensuring that political party membership was correct.

It was also said that the complaint or report of profiteering of the names of residents as members of political parties would be closed on Thursday, September 8, at 23.59 WIB.

"However, if on the next day there are still reports or complaints that come in, we will do our best to follow up," he said.

Residents can check the membership of political parties through the KPU's election info page and enter a population identification number (NIK) to find out whether their identity is registered as members of certain political parties or not.

"What is certain is that groups of residents from the TNI, police, and ASN are prohibited from becoming members of political parties," he said.
