JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) has ensured that it will continue to oversee cases of mistreatment of students that occurred at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Gontor Ponorogo, East Java.

"KPPPA monitors and coordinates in ensuring all forms of assistance needed by the victims and the families of the victims," said Deputy for Special Protection for KPPPA Children, Nahar in a written statement received in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 8.

KPPPA regrets that there was a case of violence in the religious education institution which caused one student on behalf of AM (17) to die and two others had to receive treatment.

Nahar said the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Bintang Puspayoga, specifically asked that the case be handled as well as possible so that the victims could immediately be accompanied by physical, psychological and legal recovery.

While responding to the perpetrators who had been expelled from the Gontor Islamic Boarding School, KPPPA asked that the case be investigated thoroughly so that AM victims get justice.

"We hope that this case will continue to be investigated until we find a bright spot and the victims, especially AM victims, get their rights and justice," he said.

Nahar reminded parents to always supervise the teaching and learning process even though their children forge education in Islamic boarding schools.

"Parents can improve the quality of child-parent interaction, optimize children's growth and development, prevent children from deviant behavior and are also able to detect abnormalities in children's growth and development," he said.

KPPPA also encourages people who experience or know all forms of violence to immediately report it to SAPA129 KPPPA via hotline 129 or WhatsApp 0811-129-129 or report it to the local police.
