SULTENG - The Sigi Regency Government plans to repair a bridge that was broken due to being hit by the Miu River flood in Pakuli Village, Gumbasa District. Improvements are carried out with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
"We have coordinated with the Ministry of PUPR through BWSS III and BPJN Central Sulawesi to repair roads and normalize rivers," said Deputy Regent Sigi Samuel Yansen Pongi, in Sigi, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng), quoted from Antara, Wednesday 7 September.
Samuel said the intensity of heavy rain from Monday, September 5 afternoon, until Tuesday, September 6, had an impact on the breaking of the bridge in Pakuli Village, Gumbasa District.
Samuel said that for the short-term handling, the Sigi Regency Government coordinated with BWSS III to normalize the Miu River which was damaged by the Watershed (DAS).
Furthermore, said Samuel, the Sigi Regency Government repaired and rebuilt the broken bridge in Pakuli Village.
He admitted that he directly observed the condition of the broken bridge, and saw firsthand the condition of the Miu River, on Tuesday 6 September.
He said the bridge that was broken in Pakuli Village was the main transportation route for Palu to Pakuli or vice versa.
"It's the only road that residents pass if they go to Pakuli or go to Kulawi from Palu City or from Dolo," he said.
Therefore, he said, the breaking of the bridge greatly disrupted the distribution of logistics from Palu to Pakuli and Kulawi, as well as from Kulawi and Pakuli to Palu.
Currently, he said, residents must cross an alternative route, namely through Bangga Village in South Dolo District, and then to Marawola, Dolo, and Palu City.
He added that the repair work on the bridge would be carried out immediately if the water from the Miu River had decreased, making it easy to do work.
"So, first, river normalization will be carried out, there are already eight units of heavy equipment and BWWS and the Sigi Regency Government will immediately carry out normalization," he concluded.
