JAKARTA - Bahar Smith was released from the West Java Police Detention Center after a decision from the Bandung High Court (PT) regarding the case of broadcasting uncertain news. The Head of Intelligence at the Bale Bandung Kejari Andrie Dwi Subianto said Bahar Smith was executed free because he had served 7 months in detention. PT Bandung previously ordered Bahar to be released soon. "Because 7 months later, yes (the decision of the judge of PT Bandung), is right today," said Andrie in Bandung, West Java, quoted from Antara. According to Andrie, Bahar Smith was released purely so that his party invited the person concerned to leave custody. In this case, Bahar has been detained since he became a suspect in the case. Meanwhile, Ichwan Tuankotta's attorney said that Bahar Smith left the West Java Police Detention Center on Thursday at around 03.00 WIB. Bahar, he said, was picked up by relatives and several family representatives. The lecturer immediately returned to his residence in Bogor Regency. After being released, Bahar spent time with his family. For now, he continued, Bahar had no plans to fill out his lecture activities. "Out of the West Java Police detention center at 03.00 WIB. He is in good health, fit," said Ichwan.

Previously, Bahar Smith was sentenced to 6.5 months in prison by the Bandung District Court (PN) for being found guilty of spreading uncertain news and potentially causing trouble. The case in question of Bahar's remarks while giving a lecture in Bandung Regency in December 2021. At that time, Bahar said Rizieq Shihab was imprisoned for holding the Prophet's Birthday and six FPI soldiers were tortured to death. The public prosecutor appealed to PT Bandung for the Bandung District Court's verdict. PT Bandung revised the sentence to 7 months. Furthermore, Bahar Smith was ordered to be released.
