Wisma Athlete Is Managing 2,094 Inpatients

JAKARTA - A total of 2,094 patients with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are currently hospitalized in buildings 6 and 7 of the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital (RSD) Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Head of Information for Kogabwilhan I, Colonel Marinir Aris Mudian, in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday (22/11) said that the number of COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms being treated in the building (tower) has now increased by five people.

"Inpatients were confirmed positive in towers 6 and 7 (as many as) 2,094 people, consisting of 1,017 men and 1,077 women. Initially (on Saturday) 2,089 people, an increase of 5 people," said Aris.

Meanwhile, 1,239 hospitalized patients were confirmed positive for COVID-19 without symptoms (asymptomatic). Aris said, the number of patients undergoing independent isolation in buildings 4 and 5 of the Wisma Atlet Kemayoran Hospital increased by 96 people. Initially, on Saturday (21/11), there were 1,143 self-isolating patients.

"Patients with self-isolation flats in tower 4 and tower 5 are recorded as 1,239 people (consisting of) 674 men and 565 women," he said.

The government opened building 6 and building 7 Wisma Atlet as an Emergency Hospital specifically for handling COVID-19 since March 23, 2020. The RSD building was originally used only to treat hospitalizations for COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms.

Then, the government reopened buildings 4 and 5 specifically for patients with asymptomatic conditions and patients who had no place to carry out independent isolation since taking specimens for the confirmation of COVID-19 diagnosis.

Building 5 was first operated from building 4, which is on September 15, 2020. Furthermore, building 4 will only start operating on September 21, 2020.

Building 6 is known to have a capacity of 1,300 beds, while building 7 has a capacity of 1,578 beds. Meanwhile, Wisma Atlet buildings 4 and 5 have a total capacity of 3,116 beds.

Aris said, since RSD Wisma Atlet began operating on March 23, there have been 26,521 patients registered for COVID-19 treatment. Of these, 23,960 people have been declared cured of COVID-19 after undergoing this treatment.

Meanwhile, of the 14,468 registered asymptomatic patients undergoing independent isolation at the Wisma Atlet Hospital, 14,408 patients have been declared cured of COVID-19. Aris said, RSD Wisma Atlet also provided recommendations for referral of COVID-19 patients to other nearby COVID-19 Management Hospitals.

Aris said that the Wisma Atlet Hospital had referred 459 patients to another COVID-19 Management Hospital in DKI Jakarta since it was operated on March 23, 2020 to November 22, 2020. There are two independent isolation patients who received referral recommendations to other hospitals. Meanwhile, 8 patients died during treatment at Wisma Atlet Hospital as of March 23.
