The Case Of Students Killing Students In Magelang For Stealing Cell Phones Starts Trial

MAGELANG - The Mungkid District Court, Magelang, Central Java, held the first trial of the murder case of a junior high school student with the initials WS (13) from Grabag District, with the defendant IA (15) who is also a school friend of the victim.

The closed session was led by presiding judge Fakrudin Said Ngaji with members Aldarada Putra and Alfian Wahyu Pratama. then Public Prosecutor Reni Ritama and Tata Hendrata.

Public Relations of the PN Mungkid Asri explained that the case of the murder of the Grabag Junior High School student, which began trial today, had an indictment reading on the agenda. The file for the child murder case was handed over on Tuesday (23/8).

"Because the case is rather interesting and somewhat extraordinary, so it is tried in an assembly," said Asri as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 25.

Asri said that the follow-up trial for the murder of a junior high school student by his friend was scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, with the agenda of examining witnesses.

Separately, the Head of General Crimes at the Magelang District Attorney's Office, Toto Harmiko, said that defendant IA in this murder case was charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code and Article 80 paragraph (3) of the Child Protection Act.

"Article 340 of the Criminal Code contains elements of planning, committing murder with a plan. In Article 80 of the Child Protection Law there is no plan, only killing children because the victims are children," said Toto.

The Head of Baleagung Village, Grabag Sub-district, Muhammad Sholikin, who along with the victim's family came to the Mungkid District Court, said that his presence was to stay in touch and at the same time want to know the progress of the case and oversee the trial activities.

"We really hope that the court will make the judicial process run according to the correct procedure, can be accounted for and accountable to all people so that things like this can be a deterrent effect for criminals," he said.

In the murder case that occurred in early August 2022, suspect IA (15) abused the victim WS to death allegedly because of heartache after being caught stealing the victim's cell phone in class.
