Feeling Cheated, A Used Car Seller In Tangerang Is Reported Because BPKB Is Still On Lease

TANGERANG - A man with the initials A (38) was arrested by the police on suspicion of embezzlement by buying and selling used cars.

Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Pol Raden Romdhon Natakusuma said the incident occurred in Jenggot Village, Mekar Baru District, Tangerang Regency, Thursday, December 10, 2021.

The incident began when the victim with the initials M (39) wanted to buy the perpetrator's car. After physically examining the car, the victim was interested and willing to buy the car.

"The victim gave the initial money (DP) before handing over the car documents. The agreed price was IDR 91 million, the victim then gave IDR 50 million," he said.

Even though the transaction has been carried out, the seller has not provided the complete documents for the car until it is waiting for payment.

"(The letter has not been submitted) because he will hand over the car BPKB when the payment has been paid off," he continued.

Long story short, the victim has paid off the rest of the payment from the car. However, the letters have not yet been submitted, with the excuse that they are still with the bank.

"It's been a month since the BPKB for the vehicle has not been handed over, in fact, it was later discovered that the car sold by the suspect was a loan car and the victim sent a summons up to 3 times. But there was no response," he explained.

The victim finally gave a warning in the form of an official letter to the perpetrator. However, A did not answer, so M immediately reported the perpetrator to the police.

"It is true that a man with the initials A is suspected of being an embezzler," he concluded

For his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 372 and/or 378 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 4 years in prison.
