MAKASSAR - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Sulawesi Province received dozens of complaints from people whose names were registered as administrators and members of political parties on the infopemilu.kpu.go.id site, even though they never registered themselves.
"So far, there have been 45 reports from the public who submitted their complaints to Bawaslu because their names were used by political parties," said South Sulawesi Bawaslu member Saiful Jihad in Makassar as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 23.
He said the number of complaints could still increase in line with the administrative verification process of political parties participating in the 2024 General Election which is still ongoing until September 11, 2022.
However, if the public wants to know whether or not their names were used by political parties during the administrative verification period, they can check the Population Identification Number (NIK) through the site infopemilu.kpu.go.id/Pemilu/Cari_nik.
From the public complaint, the South Sulawesi Bawaslu asked the General Elections Commission to immediately submit to the political parties that are candidates for the 2024 General Election to make improvements and delete the names of the people who were listed as administrators or members during registration. This is a form of the organizers' seriousness in making the election a success in a transparent, accountable and with integrity.
Separately, another member of the South Sulawesi Bawaslu Amrayadi said that his party continued to strengthen participatory supervision to support the implementation of Bawaslu's duties and functions by involving students as potential resources in overseeing the election stages.
"One of the powers of Bawaslu in carrying out its duties is the involvement of participatory supervisors by helping to provide space for students who have an idealistic spirit. This will be very helpful in terms of supervision," he said during the socialization of election supervision in the STIEM Bongaya campus hall, Makassar.
The coordinator of the Supervisory Division of the South Sulawesi Bawaslu added that his party is always optimistic about every partnership that Bawaslu establishes with universities.
"We are always optimistic about the cooperation that is established with the campus environment. We hope that quality participatory supervisory actors will be born from this campus." he said.
